As a result of the growing geographical spread of our clients requesting our training (Australia is the furthest thus far) we have fine tuned how our public speaking training, presentation skills coaching, and media training courses can be provided remotely via video conference technology.
Unlike face to face training, our experience is that sitting in front of a computer screen and webcam for the entire public speaking coaching course is not very comfortable or conducive to a positive learning experience. Therefore, for the remote training we have broken the course down into modules, which can either be purchased one at a time, and scheduled accordingly, or for a discounted price can be purchased as a bundled, and scheduled as an when you are ready to take each module.
Our recommendation, and thus foundation for the breakdown into the course modules, is that each session should be limited to 45-60 minutes each. If they carry on longer than this, it is because it is being driven by you, the training candidate, with questions or in-depth practical work, and we are happy that the sessions are not limited to this time to ensure that you get the most from each module.
As we write this (always proactively keeping an eye on the best technology to use), our current technology of choice to deliver this is Zoom, as it allows us to connect with our candidates via both voice and video, share presentation slides, share videos and images etc, record practical work performed by the candidates, and then watch these recordings back to analyse, feedback, and further improve on.
Whilst this doesn't necessarily have quite the same feel as being together in person, we have managed to create a level of training and interaction that you our candidates still receive the same level of information learning, practical work and analysis, and personal interaction with our trainers as you would with when being in the same room, you just can't throw things at them...
All a candidate needs is
That is all that is required. We recommend a room with enough lighting and privacy. It is not essential, but where appropriate it can sometimes be better to use headphones during the training.
Open Dawes Training's courses are CPD Accredited, which provides both credit earning for those who require an annual accumulation of CPD credits, and a kite mark of quality even for those who don't professionally need them.
As this remote training is a dissection of these CPD accredited training courses, these too earn you the credits, as the candidates will be absorbing the same learning material, and carrying out the same practical exercises, just with bigger comfort breaks between the sections, at your own pace, and without having to travel anywhere. One hour equates to one CPD credit.
The majority of our remote training is run as a one-to-one, as this is a communication method that we are all getting more used to in our personal lives let alone the professional world.
However, we are also able to provide the training to multiple candidates from the same organisation at the same time, with a suggested maximum of 5 at a time. These candidates can either be all together in the same room (subject to the availability of a suitably sized meeting room and video conferencing equipment for the group round a table to use) or each candidate in their own locations with their own webcams and microphones.
We are able to mute candidate's microphones and apply a virtual "raise hand" technology to control the multiple voices that could could make traditional group video conferences challenging, so this is definitely a viable option for an organisation to provide full, part, or follow up coaching from Open Dawes Training to teams, groups, executive groups, or parts of at a time.
The majority of this page discusses the most popular requirement that we and our coaches are involved in of live presentation skills and public speaking video training sessions. The modules of these live training options are listed below, and are likely to grow in additional optional modules over the coming weeks/months (e.g. hosting video conferences, speaking to a webcam, telemarketing, sales skills, etc.) so please do check back to see the updates, or register your interest in live remote training by Open Dawes Training and we will keep you updated.
In addition to the live training, we are currently working on the creation of a library of recorded "evergreen" training videos for individuals to follow at their own pace. This of course does not provide the interactive nature of live or face-to-face training, but it does enable self-paced learning with the scope for live follow-up/practical session to be added if/when appropriate. Face to face we train trainers to get the most our of the training delivery, whether that is internal training courses or training for their clients. With our training also being provided remotely, and experiencing the unique requirements and challenges of setting up and providing training remotely, we also provide remote training to trainers who also want/need to provide their training remotely.
This is more often than not bespoke to a certain level, as it tends to vary on the levels of experience of the candidates, technically and practically. Therefore, please do get in touch to discuss how we can best help you or your organisation with our remote training for trainers.
Core Modules - each module is typically 30-60 minutes long each, plus questions/activities, although not limited to this should your interactive discussions require longer.
