Warren Buffett believes it so much that he stated that whilst he would pay $100,000 dollars right now for 10% of the future earnings of members of an audience of Business students at Columbia University, he went on to say that "Now, you can improve your value by 50 percent just by learning communication skills--public speaking. If that's the case, see me after class and I'll pay you $150,000."
To many, it isn't just the skills to speak or present in public that causes an issue, but the fear of speaking or standing up in front of others that has the biggest impact. According to Carmine Gallo (author of the article featured on Inc.com), even Warren Buffett was terrified of public speaking; to the point where having bailed out of his first Public Speaking training course due to being scared off by the likelihood of needing to actually speak in public at the course, he had to book on for a second time before he completed it! But look where it has got him now!
